Jaunmoku Palace Museum stores the evidence of the history of the Palace and invites you to explore the nature of Latvia in the expositions of the Forest Museum.

We offer visitors the opportunity to see the unique Art Nouveau interior of the Palace, the memorial room of the former Mayor of Riga and the first owner of the Palace, George Armitstead, as well as the unique tiled stove made at the beginning of the 20th century. On the second floor of the Palace, we invite you to get to know the wildlife of Latvia’s forests in an interactive way in the various expositions of the Forest Museum, and climb the approximately 20 m high Palace tower.

Museum and Collection

The decision to establish the Forest Museum was made during the restoration of the palace in 1974. Since 2004, the Jaunmokas Palace Museum has been a state-accredited private museum in the fields of history and natural sciences. Its collection comprises 3,468 items.

Review of the history of the Palace

Jaunmoku Palace was built at the beginning of the 20th century, according to the most significant trends in technology, architecture and art of that time as a hunting lodge for the Mayor of Riga, George Armitstead.

During the visit to the museum, the lady of the Palace will tell you about the expositions of the Palace’s history and Art Nouveau interior on the first floor of the Palace, as well as demonstrate the interactive expositions of the Forest Museum on the second floor.

At the end of the tour, a wide view over the nearby hills will open up from the 20 m high Palace tower.

Audio guide

An audio guide will be a good solution if you want to walk around the museum of Jaunmoku Palace alone. During the walk, there is a feeling that the first owner of the Palace, the former Mayor of Riga George Armitstead, is greeting you and showing you around the rooms of the Palace. The texts in Latvian are narrated by actor Jānis Skanis.

In the 40-minute story (available in Latvian, Russian, English and Lithuanian) you can get to know the history of the Palace, the families of the owners and feel the atmosphere of the Palace at the beginning of the 20th century.

Orienteering in the Palace or park "Hello, Neighbor!'"

In order to get to know the Palace, its rooms and the objects within it better, it is possible to find specific objects in the Palace according to separate pieces of photographs and determine their location. Orienteering in the park, using the park plan and a small description of the object, it must be found in nature; and the given task must be completed!

Orienteering game “Tracker”

During the game you will act as the hunter and follow the trail, trying to find answers to 9 interesting and sometimes tricky questions in the Palace park. Through them it is possible to get to know the Palace, its surroundings and history from a different angle. The game is interesting, as find the secret and get to the next question, you have to solve the previous task correctly.

Herbal tea tasting

We drink a variety of drinks every day, but not all of them are healthy. We often forget about the wonderful alternative that nature gives us – herbal teas.

During the herbal tea tasting, you will taste different types of teas gathered in the Palace garden and its territory. By sipping goutweed root, nettle, lady’s mantle, birch leaves and many other teas, you will also learn about their healing power.

A Stroll Beneath White Parasols

This walk offers a captivating experience of Jaunmokas Palace, revealing its world through history, architecture, and enchanting stories — both old and new.

Led by a lady of the manor, the guided tour takes you along the palace paths woven with legends. Every corner and building of the estate will introduce itself, inviting you into its story.

Expect inspiration, elegant transformation, a journey through history, and a moment of rest worthy of aristocrats — all under the charm of white parasols.

Day of Welfare

The Collective Recreation and Team Building Programme is guided by the motive of “feeling well at work” and “feeling well in life”. It is a time for the team to relax and experience positive emotions, as well as promote their own and their team’s self-development.

By getting to know the palace and the achievements of the Armitstead family in the territory of Latvia, the team will overcome challenges together, have fun, develop communication and cooperation skills. Solving different situations creates lasting values for the future work of the team.

English tea afternoon

Enjoy pleasant conversations in one of the romantic rooms of the Palace, slowly sipping tea and tasting traditional English snacks. Learn English tea drinking etiquette and its subtleties, find out more about the origin and development of this tradition. Before the programme – a brief insight into the history of Jaunmoku Palace and its first owners – the Armitsted family.

Programme for newly-weds

On the most beautiful day – Wedding Day, we offer a tour of the Palace rooms to the newly-weds and a small group of their guests, accompanied by the lady of the Palace who will get you to do various tasks to strengthen and explore your union.

As part of the tour, we invite the couple to make their own coin of happiness. If the couple manages to get it – the young couple is compatible, and the married life will be full of happiness and harmony… as told by the old scriptures of the Palace.
